Issa’s unique collection of watercolours and ink sketches lovingly depicts the remains of traditional village homes, now abandoned and fallen into disrepair due to emigration. His paintings elicit feelings of nostalgia, family and the loss of pastoral innocence.

About the Artist: Issa Zawahreh

Issa A. Zawahreh was born in the Christian village of Taybeh, near Ramallah. As an active supporter of the Jerusalem Artists Collective, he nurtured and trained many aspiring young artists. His own work focuses on paintings of pastoral landscapes, rustic buildings and Jerusalem cityscapes. Issa died peacefully in Jerusalem on the 1st of December 2014, his 70th birthday.
